About Paula Hunter
Southern California born and raised, I graduated from CSUF with a BA in English. My career has been colorful to say the least. Fresh out of school I met and married a gentleman who was a radio announcer and station manager; after a year or so we founded an advertising agency, Hunter Barth Advertising, specializing in radio. Great fun! We eventually separated and I wrote, voiced and planned campaigns for my own little ad agency, AdDynamics.
A few years later I founded Kincaid House Publishing and began a mini-career in book publishing. We did pretty well, especially with sales of foreign language rights. Our The Self-Esteem Repair & Maintenance Manual was translated and sold in Italy and Mexico.
Through Bill Toomey, U.S. Decathlon Gold Medal winner in the '68 Olympics (whom I met in an elevator in Atlanta, Ga.) I met a javelin thrower on the Soviet National Team, Janis Donins, and we realized that, since the 'sportsmen' were the Soviets' rock stars, he could open many doors. With Janis's guidance I began making trips to USSR to do some very ahead-of-the-curve business development. My four business trips there were dramatically impactful--allowing me to be in in Berlin when the Wall came down and having been in Vladivostok the last day of the Soviet Union...the flag was lowered forever the next day.
Traveling provides such amazing photographic opportunities for us all! You will see many of mine on the FAA site, which makes me very proud. I so hope you enjoy them.
For the last couple of decades I've been a freelance proofreader and copyeditor, which has afforded me time for my photographic pursuits here and in various parts of the world. You'll find the evidence of this in my photos. My current home town of Long Beach, Calif., has also offered me endless great shots!
I'd love to read your comments regarding my photos! Please feel free to ask any questions my photos engender And thank you Fine Arts America!
